Gottscheer Tanz und Spielkreis Kindergruppe

The Gottscheer Tanz und Spielkreis Kindergruppe has been in existence for over 25 years. In 2014 the Kindergruppe was taken over by long time Tanz und Spielkreis member, Anita Evans along with the assistance of Stephanie Peter. With about 20 years experience in the group and 3 years of ballroom experience, Anita is constantly teaching the kids something new and showing off their strengths. Most recently, the kids have mastered what they call the “ribbon dance” after weekly practices to perfect it.

The primary focus is traditional German-Austrian folk dancing along with Viennese style ballroom for the annual Vienna Ball. The kindergruppe is made up of 12 members (and counting) ranging in ages 4-18. All tracht (costumes) are provided to the kids thanks to the support from club members and fundraising efforts.

In the summer of 2016, the girls debuted their new handmade dirndls made by Anita’s mom, Kathy Evans along with handmade aprons by Janel Mueller, mother of 2 kindergruppe dancers. It is because of family and public support at events and fundraisers that the group is able to do something like new uniform tracht. Anita is looking forward to unifying the boys in hopefully 2017 or 2018. If you have any tracht you would like to donate, please email

Anita and Stephanie hold weekly dance practices on Thursdays at the EOUV Club. Practices are 7:00-7:45 and typically run April through November. The kinder gruppe performs about 6-10 times per year and asks for parents volunteers at events to help everything run smoothly. If you’re interested in checking the group out, please email Anita at or fill out the “Contact Us” form!
